The Tale of This Treasure
The customized Shield Guardian, the ruined temple's last sentinel, collapses in a shower of dust and copper filings. Under its hollow chest you find its master's amulet dented but whole, fragments of the mechanism that once stored a warding spell, and a chest of age-stamped coinage secreted into the construct's torso. Scavenged gears and bronze plates reward the party's artificer, while a few gems, an old spell scroll, and ritual relics speak to the ancient cult that created the guardian. One fractured shield boss contains a rune that a clever smith can turn into a small protective charm, and a delicate ivory sigil will earn coin or favor with antiquarians. Among the finds is a small resonant key tuned to the amulet's attunement: it is a localized relic and can help the party navigate further wards in the ruins once someone bonds with the Master's Amulet. Taken together the haul is sufficient to repair or replicate parts of the construct, fund local repairs and supplies, and give the party a tangible link back to the ruin's creators.
