Its story
A heavy, palm-sized flask of black volcanic glass, its surface rough as cooled lava and threaded with a dim orange glow. Frost beads along its neck despite the warmth pulsing within. When shaken, it gives a gritty clatter and a faint, furnace-deep rumble.
Lore
Frostmelt route-keepers tell of a stone that remembers the world's first fire. They say this flask holds a fragment of that memory, a brief, violent warmth that can break ice and bar a passage with black glass. Its origin remains uncertain, like so many buried workings beneath the Archipelago.
History
The flask was recovered from a sealed fissure beneath the Frostmelt Archipelago, where old vent-rock had fused into a glassy mass. No maker's mark or surviving record identifies who first shaped it. It has passed between rescuers and route-keepers as a last resort for opening frozen paths or stopping those who would seal the vents.
