Its story
This hand-sized magnifying glass has a softly clouded honey-colored lens set in a brass frame, its handle wrapped in dark, polished wood. Tiny engraved letters circle the rim. When held over a page or small object, those letters briefly shimmer like ink catching candlelight.
Lore
Scribes once claimed that Mara’s lens could spot a careless forgery at a glance. The truth is less dramatic but more useful: it brings minute marks into startling clarity, making it a quiet treasure for anyone who reads, investigates, or restores old things.
History
Mara Vell made the glass to help fellow scribes examine cramped marginal notes and delicate illuminations. It passed through several bookshops over the years and now rests among an elderly bookseller’s ordinary stock, its modest magic mistaken for a quirk of the glass.
