Its story
A long, sleek lance with a shaft of cool, pale mithril, light enough to balance with uncanny ease. At its head, the hooked purple worm stinger is sheathed in a dark adamantine cage, leaving its wicked point exposed. Violet veins glow beneath the stinger's surface when the lance is leveled at a foe, and a faint bead of luminous venom gathers at the tip when its bane awakens.
Lore
Hunters say the lance remembers the terror of the creature from which its stinger was taken. It shines brightest when pointed toward a monstrous enemy, and its venom is said to turn a predator's own hunger against it.
History
Forged by a blacksmith from a single purple worm stinger, the lance was commissioned by a company of monster hunters who sought a weapon that could pierce the greatest horrors of the deep. Its first bearer used it to bring down a worm that had swallowed an entire caravan, and the survivors named it Purple Piercer.
