Its story
A palm-sized amulet of dark riverstone rests in a frame of worn bronze. Roots descend around a small, steady flame carved into its face, crossed by a fine gold seam like a buried vein. Cool and faintly rough against the skin, it gives a low vibration when its bearer speaks a sincere vow. At first its flame is only a shallow groove; as its promise deepens, the gold seam warms and the carved roots seem to lengthen.
Lore
The Promise Underfoot is held by some as a pledge to the buried world, by others as a promise to the dead who cannot answer. Its faith is quiet and practical: remember those who are missing, stand beside the frightened, and do not abandon the ground that bears you.
History
Its earliest bearer is unknown. Hush-Rock Hollow preserves accounts of a keeper who vowed to remember the lost and missing, then held vigil until those left behind could speak their names without fear. The amulet’s power is said to awaken again when a bearer makes a defining promise before the deep places, and to deepen through an act of remembrance.
