Its story
A blackened steel vambrace clasps around the wearer's shortened forearm, its inner lining molding itself to the limb like warm leather. From its wrist, a narrow, slightly curved blade unfolds, dark as dried blood and edged in a faint crimson glow. Silver runes lie hidden beneath the bracer's overlapping plates; they spell out precise instructions for improving the weapon, written in a cramped hand that never identifies its author. When the blade draws blood, red light pulses through the runes like a heartbeat.
Lore
The weapon is said to be a mortal's answer to the warforged armblade: not a replacement hand, but a blade that turns the absence of one into a weapon. Its hidden instructions are attributed to Kas, the Bloody-Handed, who sought to make betrayal accessible to anyone willing to pay in blood. Whether he designed the armblade or merely planted the instructions is unknown.
History
The first known bearer was a human duelist who had lost a hand in battle. The vambrace was found among the effects of a dead artificer, along with a set of secret notes describing how to adapt a warforged armblade to a flesh-and-bone wearer. The notes contain Kas's characteristic advice: trust ambition, never trust a master, and make every wound useful. The duelist's final fate is unknown; the armblade has resurfaced several times, always near conflicts involving the undead.
