Its story
This palm-sized oval of polished steel is set in a dark leather grip, its rim etched with tiny silver eyes. Its surface reflects a viewer with uncanny clarity, even in dim light, and sometimes seems to show a fleeting afterimage moving a heartbeat behind them. The mirror can be used as a spellcasting focus.
Lore
Among explorers, the Steel Mirror is said to remember every face that has looked into it. Its magic does not reveal the future; it briefly gives its bearer the protection of a second, deceptive image.
History
Maelis Vey crafted the first Steel Mirror for a traveling mage who feared ambushes in narrow ruins. The mirror passed through several adventuring companies, earning its name from its plain, durable construction and its uncanny knack for showing a caster more than one version of themself.
