Its story
A palm-sized polyhedron of dark, mirror-smooth metal, its surface divided into interlocking cubes that turn without hinges or seams. Pale blue lines drift beneath the metal like living constellations. When activated, its facets unfold into a floating lattice of translucent geometric planes, and nearby distances seem to bend toward it.
Lore
Krellvang legend claims that space is not a void, but a folded structure whose corners can be found by those who know the correct angles. The Tesseract is said to contain a map of those folds. Some worlds preserve myths of a silent star that appeared in the sky shortly before their ancient visitors arrived, though no two accounts describe the same star.
History
The Krellvang built the HyperMorphic Tesseract to survey distant worlds and move through the vast distances between them. When their empire vanished, the device passed through the hands of scavengers, scholars, and rulers, none of whom could reproduce its impossible geometry. Its last known Krellvang custodian vanished while using it to evacuate a city under siege.
