The Last Exception

A massive greatsword of black, glass-smooth metal, its edge reflecting no light. A narrow seam of starless darkness divides the blade from hilt to point, while tiny silver marks crawl along the fuller like constellations being redrawn. Its crossguard resembles two opposing crescents, and its grip is wrapped in pale, warm leather that beats faintly like a pulse.

Its story

A massive greatsword of black, glass-smooth metal, its edge reflecting no light. A narrow seam of starless darkness divides the blade from hilt to point, while tiny silver marks crawl along the fuller like constellations being redrawn. Its crossguard resembles two opposing crescents, and its grip is wrapped in pale, warm leather that beats faintly like a pulse.

Lore

Called the Last Exception, the blade embodies the stubborn conviction that every defense has a limit. Its bearers have broken tyrants, slain supposedly unkillable monsters, and sometimes mistaken certainty for justice.

History

The sword was forged at the edge of a dying universe and carried by champions who challenged beings thought beyond harm. Its last known bearer vanished after refusing to strike down a protected enemy, leaving only a clean, sword-shaped absence in the stone where the blade had rested.

Quirks

It gives a soft, disappointed click whenever a creature resists or is immune to a damage type other than its chosen type.
Its silver inscriptions rearrange themselves into the names of nearby creatures with unusual defenses.
When drawn, nearby flames lean toward the blade, even in still air.
