Lore
While many see the Gelatinous Cube as a dungeon-dwelling horror, circle druids of the deep swamps view them as essential scavengers. By harvesting 'starter cultures' from dormant cubes, these druids create a natural solvent that clears fallen timber and rusted invaders from the sacred groves.
History
The first bottled cultures were credited to the Hermit of the Glass Mire, a recluse who discovered that suspending the ooze in a solution of moon-purified water kept its digestive enzymes active but prevented its rapid growth.
