Its story
Dawnscar is a matched pair of daggers, each about a forearm long. One has a blade of white-gold that shines like sunrise on snow; the other is black iron veined with molten crimson. Their guards resemble opposing halves of a halo, one feathered and one horned. When brought together, their blades form a single circle of light around a narrow seam of darkness. Tiny script along each edge names a virtue on one side and a vice on the other.
Lore
Dawnscar is said to judge neither holiness nor wickedness by appearance. Its light exposes a lie, its shadow exposes a hidden motive, and its wielder must decide what justice means. Old courts kept an empty place at the bench for the blades, believing that no verdict was final while they were absent.
History
Aurel Vey forged the pair for the first mortal judge entrusted to sentence both angels and fiends. The daggers passed through the hands of inquisitors, liberators, and a notorious devil who used them to sever the contracts binding its own followers. They vanished after the last bearer laid them across the threshold of a ruined courthouse.
