Appearance
Ketek Gvazik is a narrow, long-limbed elf with the poised stillness of a heron and the restless hands of a cardsharp. His copper-brown skin has a dry, fine texture like polished cedar, and faint pale lines at his temples resemble cracks in old pottery. His black hair is cut short at the sides but left in a dense, untidy crest that catches rain in silver beads. He moves with clipped economy, never quite turning his whole body when a glance will do. Within a minute of meeting him, most people notice two things: he keeps touching the iron clasp at his throat as if checking that it is still there, and his breathing becomes audibly measured whenever anyone mentions a missing person. The unexpected contradiction is his smile, which is broad, boyish, and almost disarming despite the severe precision of everything else about him.
“His voice is low, dry, and carefully paced, with hard consonants and a subtle mountain cadence. He clips the ends of sentences when confident, but when frightened he becomes ceremonious and precise.”

Distinguishing Features
An iron throat clasp that he checks compulsively, even when it is visibly secure.
His breath becomes slow and audible when he is rattled, as if he is counting under his tongue.
The nails of his left hand are permanently stained blue from a mineral that cannot be scrubbed away.
He carries a collection of tiny labeled paper packets sewn into the inner lining of his coat.
His broad, almost youthful smile appears at the most inappropriate moments, especially during danger.
Voice
“A low, dry baritone with clipped consonants, a faint Caucasus mountain cadence, and a noticeable audible breath whenever he is unsettled.”
Clothing
A charcoal wool coat cut short for climbing, layered over a rust-red linen shirt and a fitted leather harness holding labeled glass vials. His boots are soft-soled and wrapped with replaceable strips of felt. He wears a small iron throat clasp, fingerless gloves stained with green, blue, and ochre powders, and a faded blue sash copied from his mother's market costume.
Body Language
His shoulders remain square even when relaxed, but his fingers continually test the iron clasp at his throat. He leans toward objects rather than people when curious. Under pressure, he stops blinking for several seconds at a time and controls his breathing so carefully that the silence becomes conspicuous.
