Mother Aeloria Vane-Tide
Species
Sea Elf
Appearance
Mother Aeloria Vane-Tide is an ageless sea elf woman whose luminescent silvery-blue skin seems faintly wet even in dry air, as though moonlit seawater clings to her. Her long pearl-gray hair streams behind her in slow, tidal motions when she walks, despite the absence of wind, and is woven with tiny glass beads, dried phosphorescent kelp, and fragments of prayer-shell. Her lavender eyes are soft and warmly maternal until she enters a prophetic trance, when their pupils widen into black vertical slits surrounded by rings of cold starlight. Her fingers are long and delicate, but the nails are ridged like translucent shell. She moves with a graceful, floating gait that makes every step appear half a heartbeat late. The contradictory impression she leaves is that of a gentle grandmother who somehow casts the shadow of a drowned giant across the floor.
“Her everyday speech is warm, low, and soothing, with a gentle coastal cadence. She speaks slowly enough to make anxious people breathe with her.”

Distinguishing Features
A brass-bound storm lantern with an eternal blue flame that burns without oil
A thin line of glowing script circling her left wrist, visible only in darkness
One glass bead in her hair contains a moving image of a drowned city
Her shadow sometimes points toward the sea even when the light comes from behind her
A small scar across her throat shaped like a crescent wave
Voice
“A low, soothing contralto with a faint resonance like speech heard through water. In moments of prophecy, a second undertone seems to speak beneath her words.”
Clothing
A flowing, salt-bleached cream robe embroidered with shimmering gold thread in patterns resembling waves, constellations, and tiny open eyes. The hems are darkened by years of seawater. She wears a simple copper torque, soft leather sandals, and a blue sash filled with dried herbs, prayer cords, and emergency bandages.
Body Language
In ordinary conversation, Aeloria leans forward, keeps her palms open, and touches people's wrists when offering reassurance. During rituals, she stands perfectly upright with her head tilted toward sounds no one else can hear. When discussing the abyss, she stops blinking and grips the lantern's handle until her knuckles shine white beneath her skin.
