Valka bint-Tariq al-Azraq
Wizard, School of Divination
Valka bint-Tariq al-Azraq
Species
Air and earth genasi
Appearance
Valka is a tall, ash-gray genasi woman whose stone-textured skin has fine pale seams along her jaw, throat, and knuckles, as though a sculptor stopped just before polishing the surface. Her silver eyes are intensely clear, reflecting lamplight like polished metal, while a faint haze of dust drifts from her lashes whenever she is angry. Her black hair is braided tightly against her skull and bound with numbered copper rings. She moves with economical precision, placing each foot as if testing a floor for hidden weakness. The impression she leaves is austere and almost statuesque, yet her hands are unexpectedly gentle, always cupping fragile objects as though they might bruise.
“Her voice is low, dry, and formal, carrying the rasp of sand across slate. She speaks with careful pauses, as if every sentence must be entered into a ledger.”

Distinguishing Features
A hairline crack runs from her left temple to the corner of her mouth, glowing faintly silver during lunar mana surges.
Her fingertips are permanently stained with blue-black archival ink and powdered bone.
A small brass tag bearing the number 417 hangs beneath her robe, the work token recovered from her father's collapse.
Her shadow sometimes moves a heartbeat after she does when she is near ancient ruins.
She carries a strip of red burial cloth wrapped around her wrist, though she refuses to explain whose it was.
Voice
“A low, breathy contralto with a rasp like wind through a sealed quarry shaft”
Clothing
A charcoal-gray funerary scribe's robe lined with waxed leather, secured by numbered copper clasps. Beneath it she wears a dust veil, fitted gray trousers, reinforced field-boots, and a broad belt holding specimen tubes, chalk, sealing wax, and water flasks. Her sleeves are embroidered with tiny white tally marks, one for every disaster site she has personally entered.
Body Language
Valka stands very still when listening, but her fingers constantly measure distances against the edge of her slate. When troubled, she presses her thumb into the seam beneath her left eye. In danger, she lowers her chin, widens her stance, and turns slightly sideways as if bracing against an oncoming cave-in.
