Valka Iron-Scale

Valka Iron-Scale
Species
Dragonborn, Iron
Appearance
Valka Iron-Scale is a broad-shouldered iron dragonborn whose gunmetal scales have been dulled by years of dust, smoke, and subterranean warfare. Fine rust-colored deposits gather in the seams around her jaw, knuckles, and throat, giving her the appearance of a statue that has spent decades standing beneath a leaking forge. Her right crest-horn was snapped near the base, leaving a blunt wedge of dark bone and a permanent asymmetry to her silhouette. Her flint-grey eyes are narrow and reflective, like sparks trapped beneath ash. She moves with economical precision, never wasting a step, yet her enormous frame can become startlingly silent when she enters scout mode. The unexpected impression is that her battered body feels less like a veteran's armor and more like a carefully maintained instrument. Even when exhausted, she gives the unnerving sense that some internal mechanism is still counting exits.
“Low, clipped, and exact. Her Draconic consonants strike like pebbles against metal, while every pause feels measured.”

Distinguishing Features
Snapped right crest-horn near the base
Rust-colored dust permanently lodged between several facial scales
A thin vertical scar across the left eye ridge, which never affected her vision
A cloak whose chain-lined hem produces a faint metallic whisper when she moves
A habit of keeping one claw wrapped in black cloth after an old crushing injury
Voice
“A deep, dry contralto with a faint metallic rasp, as if each word has been dragged across a whetstone.”
Clothing
A reinforced leather breastplate sits beneath a heavy dark canvas cloak lined with weighted steel chain links. The cloak can be wrapped around an ally as an improvised shield or dropped to reveal hidden map tubes and climbing hooks. She wears reinforced trousers, ash-stained gloves, quiet-soled boots, and a red thread around one wrist for every active extraction team.
Body Language
Valka stands squarely with her weight balanced over both feet, as if the floor might shift. She angles her snapped horn toward whoever is speaking, taps two claws against her forearm when calculating, and turns her entire torso instead of merely glancing toward danger. Her stillness is more threatening than a raised weapon.
