Appearance
Jorun is a lean, long-limbed man who looks built from cord, ash, and stubborn patience. His black quilted gambeson hangs close to his narrow frame, its diamond stitching polished smooth at the ribs from years of bowstring friction. Small steel plates cover his forearms, elbows, knees, and backs of the hands, each plate darkened with oil until it reflects only a dull gray blur. He stands with his weight on the balls of his feet, never quite settling, as if the ground might become unsafe without warning. His long brown-black hair is tied low with red thread, but loose strands constantly cross his clean-shaven face. His hands are unusually careful and expressive, with thickened fingertips, callused thumbs, and tiny crescent marks from arrow fletching. The unexpected thing about him is his gentleness: for all the metal and watchfulness, he handles cups, birds, and frightened children with almost ceremonial delicacy.
“Low, measured, and economical. Jorun speaks as if every sentence is an arrow that should be loosed only when its target is clear.”

Distinguishing Features
A red thread is woven through the tie holding his long hair, and he replaces it whenever it becomes stained.
He waits on the balls of his feet, subtly rocking as though listening for danger through the floor.
His steel hand plates are polished only on the inner surfaces, where they protect his grip from bowstring abrasion.
He smells faintly of beeswax, wet wool, and the bitter oil used on bowstrings.
His clean-shaven face has an almost scholarly calm that clashes with his armed, predatory posture.
Voice
“A quiet baritone with a faint rasp, more noticeable when he has gone too long without sleep. He lowers his voice rather than raising it when angry.”
Clothing
A black quilted gambeson reinforced by narrow steel plates at the forearms, elbows, knees, and backs of the hands. Beneath it he wears a gray linen shirt, close-fitted charcoal trousers, soft-soled riding boots, and a weatherproof hooded mantle. His gear is arranged for silence rather than decoration.
Body Language
While waiting, Jorun rests one boot against the other and keeps his weight forward, his shoulders slightly rounded around the bow. He rarely points with a finger. Instead, he indicates objects with two curled knuckles. When someone lies, he does not stare at them. He looks at their hands, then at the nearest window.
