Khurshaq Paltamiri
Species
Ghostwise Halfling
Appearance
Khurshaq is a halfling stretched tall by an upbringing among hill giants, with a long-backed, broad-shouldered silhouette that makes strangers mistake him for a child-sized human at first glance. He moves with surprising quiet, placing each foot as carefully as if crossing a sleeping giant's ribs. His skin has the warm, dry tone of baked clay, and his palms are unusually callused from lifting stones, coffins, and funeral slabs. He keeps his hair oiled and braided into three narrow cords, each tied with a different color of grave-cloth. His expression is usually solemn, but when amused he smiles with such sudden, boyish delight that the severe impression vanishes. The contradictory detail people remember is his immaculate grooming: he may arrive covered in cemetery dust, yet every braid, nail, and brass fastening will be perfectly arranged.
“His voice is low, deliberate, and unexpectedly resonant for a halfling. He pronounces Giant words with great care, while his Common carries clipped consonants and occasional softened vowels from his hill-country upbringing.”

Distinguishing Features
Three meticulously oiled braids tied with red, ochre, and indigo grave-cloth.
A brass belt buckle shaped like a closed eye, far too large for a halfling's belt.
Broad, stone-lifter's hands with pale crescent marks from years of handling lime and burial salts.
A habit of smelling the air before entering a tomb, as though checking whether the room is asleep.
His height and heavy shoulders make him look imposing until his sudden, delighted grin reveals his halfling warmth.
Voice
“A low, careful baritone with a dry rasp at the edges, like stone dragged across stone. He speaks softly enough that listeners lean closer, then occasionally laughs with a startling booming bark inherited from the giants.”
Clothing
A smoke-gray funerary robe cut short at the ankles, patched with squares of faded blue cloth, worn over wrapped linen trousers. A giant-made leather belt hangs too low on his hips and is secured with a polished brass buckle shaped like a closed eye. His sandals are carefully repaired with red cord, while one oversized woolen shoulder wrap constantly slips toward his elbow.
Body Language
He stands with his hands folded over his abdomen like a mourner, but his feet remain angled toward the nearest exit. When listening, he tilts his head in the manner of a curious giant child. Before violence, he lowers his center of gravity and spreads his toes inside his sandals.
