Appearance
Branoc Penuel is an elderly man whose body has narrowed with age without ever seeming frail. His shoulders are broad, his wrists thick, and his hands look more suited to splitting timber than holding a teacup. He walks with a measured, almost ceremonial limp, yet when danger appears he moves with startling quietness, as if the years have taught every joint exactly when not to make a sound. His face is deeply lined around the mouth, but his expression is usually mild and attentive. He smells faintly of beeswax, rain-damp wool, and crushed mint, because he keeps mint leaves in his coat pockets for his lungs. The contradictory impression is immediate: he looks like a tired village grandfather, but the room subtly arranges itself around him as though everyone has remembered where the greatest danger stands.
“Low, warm, and carefully paced. His consonants are soft, his vowels rounded, and his silences often carry more authority than his words.”

Distinguishing Features
A soft throat-clearing and slow intake of breath precede nearly every sentence, as if he is making room for someone else's words before offering his own.
His left boot is repaired with pale blue thread in a precise geometric pattern, and he unconsciously touches the stitching when remembering the dead.
He carries a small wooden bowl of mint leaves and offers them to anyone who coughs, including enemies.
His legendary greatsword has a polished grip wrapped in faded kitchen linen rather than leather.
Though he is famous for killing, his first instinct in any crowded room is to count the children, the elderly, and the exits.
Voice
“A low, weathered baritone with a gentle valley lilt. He sounds like someone speaking beside a hearth after rain. Before answering, he draws breath through his nose and clears his throat softly, a habit so consistent that silence itself becomes an announcement.”
Clothing
A faded green wool coat fastened with wooden toggles, a quilted gambeson, plain dark trousers, thick field boots, and a patched red sash once worn by the defenders of Cwm Eirwyn. His armor is worn beneath the coat rather than displayed, because he dislikes making frightened people feel they are being inspected by a weapon.
Body Language
Branoc keeps his hands open and visible, even when armed. He tilts his head toward speakers with the concentration of a man memorizing their breathing. In conversation he often rests two fingers against the table, tapping once for each person whose safety is being considered. In combat, his limp vanishes, his posture becomes upright, and his stillness grows more threatening than motion.
