Maeve Willowmend
Bard, College of Lore
Maeve Willowmend
Species
Halfling
Appearance
Maeve is a broad-shouldered halfling with weathered copper-brown skin, silver-threaded hair, and hands roughened by seed sacks, river rope, and winter dike repairs. She moves with the deliberate balance of someone crossing a wet plank, placing each foot as though the ground might dispute her claim. Her smile is warm enough to invite a hungry stranger inside, yet one side of her mouth lifts slightly higher when she is calculating a concession. A reed pen rests behind her left ear, stained dark with berry ink. The unexpected contradiction is her delicate, almost aristocratic hands, which she keeps meticulously clean despite the grime of her work. She leaves behind the impression of a kindly aunt, a magistrate, and a loaded spring all at once.
“Maeve speaks in a low, steady contralto with a soft delta lilt. Her words are plain but carefully arranged, and she pauses before important promises as though testing their weight.”

Distinguishing Features
A silver-threaded braid pinned with three polished rice grains.
A reed pen permanently tucked behind her left ear.
A thin white scar across her right palm from the drowned-shrine seed cache.
A brass tally-chain engraved with the names of the first villages to join the Commons.
A faint scent of mint, wet clay, and ink follows her into a room.
Voice
“Low, steady contralto with a soft river-delta lilt”
Clothing
A moss-green weather cloak over a cream linen shirt, layered brown working skirts and trousers, waterproof river boots, a red sash bearing the stitched grain-knot of the Verdale Commons, and a brass tally-chain worn like a belt. Her cloak smells faintly of rain, lamp oil, and crushed mint.
Body Language
Maeve keeps her shoulders square and her chin slightly lowered, as if bracing against wind. She touches the reed pen when lying, folds her hands over her stomach when listening, and taps one thumb against her knuckles while calculating. When enraged, she becomes perfectly still except for the slow tightening of her jaw.
