Hollowborn, a custom mnemonic construct
Appearance
Kvezh is a spindly, long-limbed man who appears to be human until he moves. He stands with his weight balanced on the balls of his feet, as if waiting for the floor to tilt, and when he listens he leans his entire body toward the speaker rather than merely turning his head. His fingers are too still when resting and too quick when working, folding paper, sorting coins, or tracing invisible lines across a page. His skin has the dry, faintly fibrous texture of old parchment, with tiny horizontal creases at the wrists and throat. He keeps himself meticulously groomed, but his hair is cut in an uneven bowl around the ears, a style that would be laughable if he did not wear it with such solemn dignity. The contradiction is immediate: he looks frail enough to be blown over by a strong wind, yet he gives the impression of having already measured the room for exits, hiding places, and burial depth.
“His voice is soft, dry, and carefully paced. He places stress on unexpected syllables, often making simple sentences sound like questions asked by someone who already knows the answer.”

Distinguishing Features
His posture is permanently poised, as if he is listening for footsteps beneath the floor.
He has exceptionally smooth, parchment-dry skin with faint horizontal texture at the wrists and neck.
His hair is deliberately cut in an old-fashioned uneven bowl, despite his otherwise careful grooming.
He blinks one eye at a time when concentrating, never both together.
His smile arrives a moment after his amusement, like a delayed mechanical response.
Voice
“A quiet, papery murmur with a faint rasp beneath it, like a page being dragged across stone. He sounds most human when discussing prices and least human when expressing sympathy.”
Clothing
A brown shopkeeper's coat with too many inner pockets, a high-collared cream shirt, soft gray trousers, and polished black shoes with no visible laces. He wears a brass measuring chain around his waist and keeps a strip of red ribbon tied around one wrist to mark the page he is currently fearing.
Body Language
Kvezh waits with his heels slightly raised and his hands folded behind his back. He turns his head in small, precise increments, often looking at a person's hands before their face. When amused, he becomes completely motionless. When angry, he smiles and begins straightening nearby books.
