Appearance
A broad-shouldered human man with the compact, weathered strength of someone who has hauled bodies from collapsed buildings and carried children through floodwater. His hands are permanently roughened, with pale crescent marks from years of gripping iron prayer rails. His face is square and deeply lined around the mouth, but his expression is unexpectedly gentle, almost domestic, as if he is perpetually listening for a kettle to boil. He moves with careful economy, never wasting a step, yet he occupies a room like a piece of furniture that was built into it. His most contradictory feature is his immaculate white beard, braided with tiny brass house keys, while the rest of him bears the dust, salt, and oil stains of constant practical labor.
“Low, measured, and warm enough to quiet a crowded hall. He speaks with a faint river-district accent, clipping hard consonants and giving names careful weight.”

Distinguishing Features
A white beard braided with seven tiny brass house keys, each key belonging to a shelter, hospice, or temple annex.
A faint scent of beeswax, river mud, and boiled rosemary follows him even after he has washed.
His left thumb is permanently flattened from years of pressing sealing wax and repairing emergency doors.
He has a habit of making direct eye contact with the quietest person in a group first.
His ceremonial stole is made from patched blankets once used by disaster survivors.
Voice
“A deep baritone with a rasp like a match struck against stone. His voice carries without shouting, and even his whispers sound formal. When speaking to children, he softens the final consonants of his words. When delivering a blessing, he sounds less like a priest and more like a tired father promising that the door will hold.”
Clothing
A smoke-blue clerical coat reinforced with concealed leather panels, a cream linen undertunic, heavy brown boots, and a broad sash embroidered with tiny floor plans of old Havenreach shelters. His ceremonial stole is patched from the blankets of disaster victims and carries no family crest. He wears a brass ring of office on a cord around his neck rather than on his hand.
Body Language
Aldren stands with his feet planted as though expecting the floor to move. He leans slightly toward anyone speaking, making even a confession feel attended to. When threatened, he becomes perfectly still except for one thumb rubbing the edge of a brass key in his beard. In anger, he does not raise his voice. He lowers it, squares his shoulders, and begins tidying the nearest surface.
