Species
Human
Appearance
Feriyat is a compact, broad-shouldered man whose movements are unexpectedly delicate. He walks with the careful rhythm of someone carrying a full bowl, even when his hands are empty. His face is round and open, softened by laugh lines and a small cleft in his chin, yet his watchful eyes make it difficult to mistake him for harmless. Before speaking, he draws breath through his nose in two quiet, measured pulls, as if smelling rain. His palms are permanently darkened by lampblack, while his fingernails are kept meticulously clean. He wears a little silver bell at his belt that never rings when he walks, but gives one clear chime whenever he lies. The contradiction is immediate: he looks like a patient, homely shopkeeper, but stands with the alert balance of a knife fighter.
“Low, patient, and lightly raspy, with a soft rolling rhythm. Feriyat's voice becomes almost musical when speaking to children or frightened animals, but turns clipped and formal when he is angry.”

Distinguishing Features
A silent silver bell hangs at his belt and chimes only when he lies.
His left sleeve is sewn with a line of tiny blue glass beads that click softly when he moves.
He pauses for two nasal breaths before speaking, a habit noticeable even in noisy rooms.
He carries himself like a man making space for others, yet always positions himself where he can see every exit.
A faint scent of lamp oil, crushed mint, and wet wool follows him.
Voice
“A warm baritone with a rough edge, like a song remembered after too many miles. He pauses before important words and exhales softly through his nose when deciding whether to trust someone.”
Clothing
A faded plum wool coat patched with mismatched fabrics, a cream shirt with a high collar, loose charcoal trousers, and soft leather boots. His coat lining is stitched with tiny protective symbols in blue and copper thread. A brass lantern hangs from his belt beside a silent silver bell.
Body Language
Feriyat angles his body toward doors and windows without appearing guarded. He makes room for others at crowded tables, then somehow ends up occupying the best-lit seat. When suspicious, he rubs the smooth wooden handle of his staff with his thumb. When genuinely pleased, he leans close enough that his sleeve brushes the other person's arm.
