Species
Goliath
Appearance
Vane is a lean, long-limbed goliath whose movements are so economical that people often notice only where he has stopped, not how he arrived. His deep charcoal-grey skin has the rough, matte texture of weathered slate, broken by faint pale-blue migration tattoos that wind from his left ankle to his throat like a map of vanished clans. His face is narrow for a goliath, with a flattened nose, a chipped lower tusk, and a permanent white scar crossing one eyebrow. He wears silence like another layer of clothing. Even when standing still, he subtly shifts his weight as if balancing on a cliff edge. The unexpected contradiction is his hands, which are enormous and scarred, yet capable of tying a surgeon’s knot or lifting a sleeping child without waking them. He leaves behind the impression of cold air entering a room.
“A low, careful murmur, with mountain words chosen for precision. He pauses before names, never wastes a threat, and sometimes lowers his voice so far that listeners must lean closer, placing them exactly where he wants them.”

Distinguishing Features
Pale-blue migration tattoos that subtly brighten near ancestral clan relics
A white scar through the left eyebrow and a chipped lower tusk
A cloak that seems to change texture against stone and snow
A string of seven tiny hearth-stones worn at his throat
Leaves almost no footprints even in fresh powder because of his unusual gait
Voice
“A resonant baritone worn thin by cold air, usually softened into a near-whisper. When Vane finally shouts, the sound is startlingly immense, like a rockslide breaking loose above a valley.”
Clothing
Weather-hardened dark leather armor beneath an adaptive chameleon-weave canvas cloak that blends into alpine rock, lichen, storm shadow, and snow. His boots are wrapped in felt and seal hide to silence each step. He wears a belt of bone toggles, ritual hearth-stones, climbing hooks, and small brass Consortium identification plates turned face-down.
Body Language
Vane stands slightly side-on, keeping one shoulder toward the nearest wall and his dominant hand free. He rarely blinks during negotiations. When lying, he becomes more still rather than more animated, and his left thumb rubs the oldest blue tattoo at his wrist.
