Kestril Varkos
Paladin, Oath of Devotion with custom Imperial Sovereign features
Kestril Varkos
Species
Human
Appearance
Kestril is a tall, broad-shouldered woman with the deliberate balance of a veteran swordswoman and the tired stillness of someone who has spent too many years seated beneath judgmental stone. Her face is angular, sun-browned, and marked by a thin white scar that runs from the corner of her left eye to the hinge of her jaw. Her hands are callused beneath jeweled gloves, and she walks with a faint limp that disappears whenever she enters a council chamber. Her presence is warm at first glance, almost maternal, yet her eyes remain coldly attentive, counting exits, alliances, and lies. The unexpected softness of her appearance comes from a scattering of freckles across her nose and a habit of tucking loose hair behind one ear when embarrassed.
“Her voice is low, clear, and unusually intimate for a sovereign, with a measured Jorthiel cadence that becomes clipped when she is angry. She pronounces names carefully, never shortening them without permission.”

Distinguishing Features
A thin white scar from her left eye to her jaw.
A sun-shaped silver-gold brand over her heart, visible only when she uses Channel Divinity.
A slight limp that vanishes during combat.
A red Dawnwarden sash hidden beneath her formal mantle.
A small iron ring worn on a chain around her neck, containing a pinch of ash from the Ashwater Riots.
Voice
“Low, clear, intimate, and disciplined, with a warm riverland cadence that turns into a blade-sharp command when she invokes imperial authority.”
Clothing
A midnight-blue court coat reinforced with fine mithral scales, worn beneath a white mantle embroidered with six narrow rays representing the six realms. Her crown is a simple circlet of dawn-gold, while the heavy ceremonial cloak is usually left folded over the back of her throne. In private, she favors plain linen, soft boots, and a battered red sash from her Dawnwarden years.
Body Language
Kestril keeps one hand near the pommel of the Dawn Aegis even when unarmed. In public she sits perfectly upright, but when someone mentions the cost of a policy to common people, her left thumb begins rubbing the scar beneath her glove. When angry, she becomes almost motionless. When afraid, she smiles.
