Appearance
Katsumi Daget is an athletically lithe young woman with pale ivory skin, warm freckles scattered across her nose and shoulders, and dark brown eyes flecked with gold. Her jaw-length hair is cut unevenly, as if trimmed with a soldier's knife, with one lock always falling across her cheek when she bends over a map. She stands on the balls of her feet with one shoulder angled toward the nearest exit, giving the impression that she is perpetually halfway through deciding whether to stay. Her arms are lightly muscled and usually bare from the biceps down. The unexpected softness in her appearance is her careful, almost shy smile, which clashes with the hard economy of her movements. Within a minute of meeting her, people notice that her eyes rarely settle on faces. They travel instead to hands, door hinges, windows, and the space behind someone's left shoulder.
“Her voice is low, clear, and slightly roughened by years of shouting across rain and river traffic. She speaks quickly when giving tactical instructions and slowly when discussing guilt.”

Distinguishing Features
Her gaze constantly maps exits, hands, hinges, and blind corners instead of resting on faces.
A battered copper whistle hangs from her sash. Its mouthpiece is worn smooth from being held between her teeth during rescues.
The faded blue armband above her left elbow is visibly threadbare where she touches it whenever she lies.
Her smile is guarded and crooked, but her voice becomes unexpectedly gentle when speaking to children or injured animals.
She keeps her fingernails short and stained with black oil from maintaining weapons and dock machinery.
Voice
“Low, clear, and rain-roughened, with precise consonants and a quiet warmth that appears most clearly when she is speaking to frightened people.”
Clothing
A practical chain shirt worn beneath a weathered charcoal half-cloak that hangs from one shoulder. Her arms are exposed from the biceps down. A rust-red sash secures a split-front skirt over fitted dark trousers. Copper bangles circle both wrists, each dented from years of use. A faded blue armband is tied above her left elbow, its fabric visibly thinner where her thumb worries it. She wears soft-soled boots reinforced with stitched leather at the toes.
Body Language
Katsumi keeps her weight forward, as if the floor might tilt beneath her. She angles her torso toward exits, touches the lower edge of her faded blue armband when lying, and turns her left palm upward when asking for trust. In a fight, her posture becomes almost quiet, with her head still and her feet doing most of the work.
