Appearance
A slim, wiry young woman with warm brown, wind-chapped skin and sun freckles scattered across a narrow nose. Her firm jaw and deep brown eyes flecked with amber give her a watchful, almost severe appearance, but her mouth often settles into a guarded half-smile. Uneven shoulder-length black hair has been hacked short with a knife and falls across one side of her mouth. She leans subtly forward even when standing still, shield arm angled toward whoever seems most vulnerable, her weight poised on the balls of her feet. Her movements are economical and mountain sure, with no wasted flourish. The unexpected softness is the tiny care she gives her hands, rubbing lanolin into cracked knuckles each night despite allowing nearly everything else she owns to remain patched and weathered. Within a minute of meeting her, most people notice the immaculate red stitching on her shield straps, each stitch evenly spaced while the rest of her equipment looks road-beaten.
“Her voice is low, dry, and slightly hoarse from cold air. She speaks quickly when giving directions and slowly when asking someone to trust her.”

Distinguishing Features
A faded red spiral made from overlapping nail heads decorates her round rawhide shield.
Her shield straps are repaired with unusually precise crimson stitching.
A small brass mule bell hangs inside her cloak and rings only when she moves quickly.
One wool leg wrap is dyed ochre while the other is charcoal, the result of mending two different garments together.
She keeps her hair hacked unevenly across one side of her mouth, giving every guarded smile a crooked, half-hidden quality.
Voice
“A low, dry contralto with a mountain rasp, more comforting when issuing firm instructions than when attempting reassurance.”
Clothing
A dented patched chain shirt lies over a faded rust-red tunic. She wears torn charcoal trousers, wrapped wool leggings, cracked leather boots, and a gray cloak fastened with a bone toggle. Every repair is neat and deliberately visible, usually in contrasting ochre or red thread. The left glove is newer than the right and is treated with disproportionate care because it belonged to her brother.
Body Language
She keeps her shield side turned slightly toward danger and rarely plants both heels at once. When suspicious, she touches the red spiral on her shield with two fingers. When emotionally cornered, she looks toward the nearest trail rather than at the speaker.
