Species

Appearance
A slim, wiry young woman with warm brown, wind-chapped skin and sun freckles scattered across a narrow nose. Her deep brown eyes hold small amber flecks that catch the light when she turns her head. Uneven black hair, hacked shoulder-length with a knife, falls over one side of her mouth and reveals slightly crowded front teeth whenever her guarded half-smile slips through. She leans subtly forward even while standing still, as though bracing against mountain wind, and walks on the balls of her feet with a scout's quiet balance. Her left arm is almost always angled protectively toward whoever stands nearest her. The unexpected softness is in her hands: broad-knuckled and callused, but careful enough to mend a moth wing or fasten a child's boot without tearing the leather.
“Low, husky, and economical. Her voice becomes unexpectedly soft when speaking to the injured or to animals.”

Distinguishing Features
A faded red spiral made from overlapping iron nail heads decorates her rawhide shield.
Her front teeth are slightly crowded, visible when she gives a reluctant half-smile.
The bone toggle on her cloak is polished bright from constant touching.
Her clothing repairs form a deliberate trail of contrasting stitches from left shoulder to right boot.
She smells faintly of wool smoke, horse leather, and crushed mountain herbs.
Voice
“A low, weather-roughened contralto with careful diction and a faint mountain cadence. She sounds most dangerous when she lowers her volume.”
Clothing
A dented patched chain shirt hangs over a faded rust-red tunic. She wears torn charcoal trousers, wrapped wool leggings, cracked leather boots, and a gray cloak fastened with a bone toggle. Every tear has been repaired with neat contrasting stitches in ochre, white, or faded crimson, making the damage look almost deliberately patterned.
Body Language
Auneva keeps her weight forward, knees loose, and shield arm slightly raised even in conversation. She watches hands rather than faces. When she trusts someone, her shoulders lower by a fraction, but she continues rubbing the bone toggle of her cloak with her thumb.
