Appearance

Mira is a slim tiefling whose presence seems to occupy more room than her body does. She leans forward when listening, horns angled like a pair of dark question marks, and her long tail constantly tests the space behind her for obstacles. Her skin has the muted red-brown tone of dried clay after rain, with fine golden flecks around her knuckles that resemble pollen caught beneath the skin. Her fingertips are permanently ink-stained in blue, black, and medicinal green. She wears mismatched spectacles, one lens round and thick, the other narrow and hexagonal, both held together by a brass wire that has been repaired so often it looks braided. A weathered specimen satchel hangs at her hip, its strap polished smooth only where her thumb worries it. She moves with quiet, economical precision, but when excited she forgets her own reach and knocks cups, stools, and other people's elbows aside with her tail. The unexpected contradiction is her smell: beneath the bitter herbs, damp paper, and smoke is a clean, sweet scent like freshly peeled pear.

Height5 feet 7 inches
BuildNarrow-shouldered and wiry, with the compact strength of someone accustomed to climbing ladders and carrying heavy satchels.
EyesAmber-gold, usually half-hidden behind mismatched lenses
HairSoot-black, cut to the jaw on one side and braided into a thin cord on the other
SkinMuted red-brown like rain-darkened clay, with fine golden flecks around the knuckles

Clear and quick, with clipped sentences when working and unexpectedly poetic descriptions when discussing roots, grief, or weather. Her voice becomes a warm murmur around children and a flat, carefully formal register when she is angry.”

Distinguishing Features

Ink-stained fingertips in several colors, with the pads of her thumbs permanently darkened.

Mismatched spectacles joined by a repeatedly repaired brass wire bridge.

A weathered specimen satchel with a thumb-polished strap and dozens of labeled bark samples inside.

Two swept-back black horns dusted with pale pollen from constant fieldwork.

A long, expressive tail that taps out impatient rhythms against nearby wood.

Voice

A quick, low alto with a dry edge, usually carrying the faint rasp of someone who spends too much time around dust, bark, and powdered roots.

Clothing

A patched charcoal vest over a mustard linen shirt, narrow work trousers tucked into soft climbing boots, and a moss-green scarf secured with a copper seed clasp. Nearly every seam contains a tiny loop, hook, or hidden pocket for tools and samples.

Body Language

Mira tilts her head as though listening to roots beneath the floor. Her tail coils around table legs when she is anxious, and her hands become perfectly still when she is frightened. She invades personal space while examining evidence, then retreats sharply if someone tries to comfort her.
