Appearance
Tepoz Mirov is a narrow-shouldered man with the careful, balanced movements of someone used to walking on rooftops. His face is soft and almost childlike, with full cheeks, a rounded nose, and a patient mouth that seems permanently on the verge of apologizing. His hands are long-fingered and stained with blue ink, candle soot, and ground cinnamon. When he turns quickly, his coat follows a heartbeat later, giving the impression that his shadow is reluctant to keep up. He looks delicate until he smiles, at which point the expression is startlingly wolfish. The contradictory impression is unmistakable: he appears built to mend broken toys, yet carries himself like a man who has buried kings.
“His voice is soft, rounded, and unhurried, with careful consonants and a faint musical lilt. He speaks as though every sentence is being placed on a table for inspection.”

Distinguishing Features
A pale crescent-shaped scar beneath his right eye, caused by a cracked divination mirror.
His fingernails are stained indigo despite repeated scrubbing.
A tiny brass bell is sewn into the hem of his coat and rings only when someone nearby is lying.
His shadow sometimes points toward the nearest source of danger instead of matching his body.
He smells faintly of rain, cinnamon, and extinguished candles.
Voice
“Warm, low, and gently melodic, with a faint rasp when he is tired. His laughter is surprisingly loud and bright, usually followed by an embarrassed cough.”
Clothing
A faded indigo coat lined with mismatched scraps of embroidered cloth, a cream shirt fastened with wooden toggles, soft red sash cords, charcoal trousers, and mud-stained leather shoes. Numerous pockets hold wax, chalk, folded papers, and tiny bells. His left sleeve has been carefully patched with expensive gold thread.
Body Language
He keeps one thumb pressed against the side of his forefinger as though holding an invisible thread. He leans close when listening, but steps back abruptly when someone shows him sincere affection. In danger, his posture becomes very still, and only his eyes continue moving.
