Appearance
Kest is a narrow, elegant man with the stillness of a closed trap. His movements are economical until the instant he attacks, when his body seems to fold sideways and arrive somewhere it was not. Years of handling knives have left his palms smooth but unnaturally taut, with dark calluses arranged in precise crescents along his thumbs and the sides of his index fingers. His fingertips are perpetually dusted with a faint graphite-colored residue from the displacement powder he uses to anchor thrown weapons. Before speaking, he takes a small, audible breath through his teeth, as though tasting the room. He leaves people with the impression that they have been measured, boxed in, and quietly placed somewhere in his plans. The unexpected contradiction is his smile, which is broad, warm, and almost boyish, entirely at odds with the cold precision of his hands.
“Elegant and measured, with a soft theatrical cadence. He speaks quietly enough to make listeners lean closer, then occasionally drops into a flat, hard whisper that feels more dangerous than a shout.”

Distinguishing Features
His fingers make tiny measuring gestures whenever he studies a room.
A faint graphite dust gathers in the creases of his palms and never completely washes away.
He pauses for one breath before speaking, even when answering a simple greeting.
His smile is warm and open, but his gaze remains fixed on the nearest usable shadow.
His knives produce no sound when leaving his hand, only a soft click when they arrive.
Voice
“A low, smooth baritone with a faint rasp at the end of each sentence. His first breath before speaking is audible, and when genuinely angry he stops using contractions.”
Clothing
A charcoal traveling coat lined with dull crimson silk, split at the back for movement and stitched with narrow inner pockets. He wears soft-soled boots, a high-collared ivory shirt, fingerless gray gloves, and a belt of flat metal plates that conceal spare knives. His clothing is immaculate except for deliberate chalk marks along the cuffs, each one a private range measurement.
Body Language
Kest stands with his shoulders relaxed and his hands open, but his weight is always balanced on the balls of his feet. He rarely turns his back fully toward a wall. When amused, he touches two fingers to the underside of his wrist as if checking for a hidden blade. When frightened, he becomes perfectly motionless.
