Vellka Drom
Unquiet Witness
Vellka Drom
Species
Human
Appearance
A narrow, water-swollen corpse that should be incapable of standing, yet rises whenever someone speaks the name Gargas. Its flesh has the gray translucence of candle wax left in rain, with grains of black sand embedded beneath the skin. The body moves in sudden, economical jerks, as if pulled by invisible fishing line, but its hands are remarkably gentle when pointing toward a clue. A strip of red ritual cord is knotted through the left wrist. The contradictory impression is that of something ruined beyond recognition carrying itself with the patient dignity of a tired village schoolteacher.
“A wet whisper with long pauses, as though each sentence must rise through water. Certain words arrive in another person's voice, usually the voice of the last victim Vellka remembers.”

Black sand beneath the skin of the palms and eyelids.
A red cord threaded through the left wrist.
A child's blue scarf wrapped around one ankle.
The corpse leaves damp footprints even on dry stone.
Voice
“A drowned whisper that occasionally fractures into the voice of someone else. When saying 'Port Joli,' the voice becomes clear, warm, and almost alive.”
Clothing
A sodden fisher's smock beneath a torn brown wool coat, both stiff with salt and grave mud. One boot remains tied, while the other is wrapped in a child's blue scarf.
Body Language
Vellka stands with the shoulders tilted forward and the head slightly canted, as though listening through deep water. Its fingers tap once for yes, twice for no, and scrape a slow circle into nearby dirt when recalling something painful.
