Commander Ignis Scale-Bane
Paladin 12, Oath of the Crucible
Commander Ignis Scale-Bane
Species
Half-Dragon, Red Draconic Ancestry
Appearance
Ignis is an imposing half-dragon with deep red scales that darken to iron-black along his shoulders, spine, and knuckles. Heat shimmers faintly around his plated body when his temper rises. His blunt horns sweep backward like forged hooks, and his lower canines protrude visibly whenever he speaks or eats. He moves with disciplined economy, every turn of his head measured, every armored step placed as though he were crossing a furnace grate. His cinder-wrought plate is scarred by soot and repeated repairs, yet the small bronze clasp at his throat receives meticulous polishing. The unexpected softness of his appearance lies in his hands, which are broad, heavily scaled, and remarkably careful when handling delicate objects such as prayer beads, cracked pottery, or a frightened initiate.
“His voice is low, measured, and rasped by years of inhaling ash. He rarely raises it.”

Distinguishing Features
A pair of short, iron-dark horns with their tips wrapped in red thread from an old temple oath.
Blunt lower fangs that show whenever he eats, smiles, or speaks through clenched teeth.
One shoulder plate bears a row of tiny punched marks, one for each person he failed to extract from a sealed refinery district.
His tail is banded with narrow copper rings, each engraved with the name of a former Guard member.
He smells faintly of hot metal, bitter herbs, and rain striking volcanic stone.
Voice
“A controlled baritone with a dry metallic rasp, quiet enough that listeners lean toward him and sharp enough that they remember every word.”
Clothing
Cinder-wrought plate mail over a dark red tabard bearing the crest of the Crucible Heart. The armor has mismatched replacement plates, blackened leather straps, and pale mineral dust worked permanently into the joints. A carefully polished bronze throat clasp is the only immaculate piece. He wears thick furnace gloves even when outside the forge districts, claiming they protect against ash, though he rarely removes them in public.
Body Language
Ignis stands squarely with his shoulders held like locked gates. He keeps his hands folded behind his back during judgment and rests one clawed thumb against the pommel of his sword during negotiations. His tail makes a slow, controlled sweep when he is suspicious, then strikes once against the floor when he has reached a decision.
