Master Engineer Brakus Cleth-Aurix
Species
Dragonborn, Gold
Appearance
Master Engineer Brakus Cleth-Aurix is a broad-shouldered gold dragonborn whose brilliant scales gleam like hammered coins beneath the geothermal works. Pale, jagged heat scars cross his chest, throat, and left cheek, while permanent soot shadows gather around his nostrils and between the plates of his armor. His thick crest-horns are blunt and subtly warped, like heated iron left to cool in a crooked mold. Bright amber-gold eyes flick constantly from person to pressure gauge, measuring everything. His reinforced artifice armor is bulky, asymmetrical, and alive with pneumatic valves, copper tubing, glowing thermal conduits, and leather harnesses swollen dark with oil. He walks with a heavy, deliberate stomp that makes loose tools tremble, yet his hands move with astonishing delicacy when adjusting a valve. The unexpected contradiction is his immaculate silk neck scarf, pale blue and embroidered with tiny moths, which he refuses to remove even while crawling through ash, steam, and molten runoff.
“His voice is a resonant baritone threaded with metallic rasp and periodic clicks of compressed air. He speaks rapidly when excited, slows into exact measured phrases when calculating danger, and becomes almost whisperingly gentle when addressing injured workers.”

Distinguishing Features
Pale lightning-shaped heat scars across the face and throat
Horn tips warped into subtly asymmetrical hooks
Amber-gold eyes with tiny rotating ring-shaped pupils caused by arcane exposure
A blue silk moth scarf that remains spotless despite the geothermal environment
A left shoulder valve that whistles a three-note melody whenever pressure becomes dangerous
Voice
“A resonant baritone with a metallic rasp, booming enough to cut through machinery yet capable of dropping into a soft, careful murmur around frightened workers.”
Clothing
Reinforced soot-stained arcane armor, layered leather work-harnesses, heatproof gloves, brass-lensed goggles, steel-toed boots, a tool belt packed with miniature gauges, and an incongruously clean pale-blue silk scarf embroidered with moths
Body Language
He leans toward machinery as if listening to its heartbeat, taps two claws against his wrist valves when thinking, and plants himself between danger and bystanders without seeming to notice he has done so. When furious, he becomes perfectly still except for a slow release of steam from his shoulder vents.
