Kaelen Steel-Tooth
Artificer, Armorer
Kaelen Steel-Tooth
Species
Half-Dragon, Red Draconic Ancestry
Appearance
Kaelen Steel-Tooth is a broad, crimson-scaled half-dragon whose movements have the measured rhythm of a piston stroke. His soot-stained horns curl close to his skull, their ridges polished smooth where his fingertips worry them during negotiations. Scorched basalt plate wraps his torso in overlapping slabs, each one fitted with brass pressure gauges, copper tubes, and tiny windows glowing with ember-red light. His scales are rough around the shoulders from years of furnace dust, while the scales of his hands remain strangely clean, scrubbed until they shine like lacquer. He leaves behind the impression of a walking foundry, hot metal, bitter smoke, and the faint vibration of machinery beneath the floor. The unexpected gentleness of his careful hands contrasts sharply with the things he orders those hands to build.
“His voice is low, rounded, and almost soothing, with a soft Basque and Hungarian cadence beneath the clipped precision of an industrial clerk. The steel tooth gives certain words a faint metallic click.”

Distinguishing Features
A steel pressure-valve tooth clicks softly when he speaks certain consonants.
The brass gauge over his sternum fogs from within whenever he lies.
His horns are darkened by soot except at the tips, which have been polished by years of anxious touching.
His armor emits a faint rhythmic hum that stops completely when he is frightened.
He smells of hot stone, bitter coffee, and rain striking a forge roof.
Voice
“A low furnace-hum of a voice, warm in volume but cold in intent. His words carry the faint click of steel against steel, and when angered, each breath whistles through his pressure valves.”
Clothing
Scorched basalt plate fitted with brass pressure gauges, dark red work trousers, heat-resistant gloves, a slate-gray half-cloak marked with the Turning Bench seal, and a leather tool harness whose left buckle is polished almost white from constant handling.
Body Language
Kaelen stands with his shoulders squared and his weight balanced as if braced against an unseen tremor. He taps one claw against the brass gauge mounted over his sternum when calculating. His breath normally leaves his nostrils in thin, controlled streams, but under pressure it emerges in short bursts of hot vapor, making nearby glass fog.
