Hogan Raggetty
Species
Dwarf
Appearance
Hogan Raggetty is a compact, broad-shouldered dwarf with the dense, slightly lopsided build of someone who has spent his life hauling bodies, crates, and unwilling prisoners. His hands are the first thing people notice. The knuckles are enlarged, the nails permanently darkened by oil and iron dust, and the fingertips have been polished smooth from years of handling wire, bowstrings, and lock mechanisms. He moves with an unsettling economy, never wasting a step, but when relaxed he rocks gently from heel to toe like a miner listening for a cave-in. His beard is cropped close at the jaw and tied in three practical cords, each capped with a different brass token taken from former bounties. He wears a cheerful red neckerchief despite the mud-colored armor and grim profession, an unexpected touch that makes him look almost festive until he smiles. His eyes rarely rest on faces. They travel to exits, hands, belt pouches, rooflines, and the weakest person in the room.
“Low, gravelly, and surprisingly careful. Hogan speaks Common with clipped dwarven consonants and occasional blunt Orcish loanwords.”

Distinguishing Features
Three brass bounty tokens are braided into his beard, and he touches the leftmost one whenever he recognizes a lie.
His hands are unusually smooth at the fingertips but swollen across the joints from years of chains, crossbows, and lockpicks.
He wears a bright red neckerchief that is always freshly washed, even when the rest of him is caked in road dirt.
He smiles warmly at frightened strangers, creating the impression of a kindly uncle until they realize he has already measured their restraints.
He carries a folded strip of parchment covered in tiny black tally marks, one for every person he has delivered alive.
Voice
“A dry baritone with a faint rasp, like gravel shaken in a tin cup. When genuinely amused, he snorts once and immediately tries to turn the sound into a cough.”
Clothing
Layered charcoal brigandine over a brown wool shirt, mud-stained trousers, iron-soled boots, a bright red neckerchief, and a weatherproof coat lined with stitched scraps of old wanted posters.
Body Language
Hogan keeps his elbows close and his weight low, as if every conversation might become a grapple. He taps bounty tokens against his thumb when lying, turns his whole body toward danger rather than merely his head, and leans forward with eager friendliness when he is preparing to threaten someone.
