Keta Vargai
Commoner with Rogue Tendencies
Keta Vargai
Species
Human
Appearance
Keta has the compact, weather-hardened look of someone raised between a fish market and a knife shop. Their skin is marked by tiny pale scars from splintered handles, failed stitches, and one childhood encounter with a river eel. They move with a slight forward tilt, as if forever leaning into a strong wind, but their hands remain unnervingly still. The unexpected contradiction is their immaculate smile, bright and almost courtly, which appears whenever they are most frightened.
“Low, quick, and carefully measured. Keta clips the ends from sentences when nervous, then becomes overly formal when concealing the truth.”

Distinguishing Features
A pale crescent scar beneath the right eye.
A missing tip on the left little finger.
A tiny brass bell sewn inside the coat, taken from the Flood Bell tower.
A smile that appears at exactly the wrong moments.
Always smells faintly of lemon oil, river water, and cold iron.
Voice
“A dry contralto with a faint Vargadi river accent, softened by careful diction and sharpened by years of speaking over hammering metal.”
Clothing
A charcoal work coat patched with dark blue sailcloth, a high-collared linen shirt, fingerless gloves, and a leather apron lined with hidden pockets. Their boots are soft-soled for quiet movement and permanently stained with river mud.
Body Language
Keta stands with their shoulders relaxed and their chin slightly lowered, presenting harmlessness without quite achieving it. Their fingers tap twice against their thumb when calculating risk. When someone mentions Miro, their smile remains fixed while their left hand closes around an unseen knife hilt.
