Kjetil Dankil
Cleric, Life Domain
Kjetil Dankil
Species
Hill Dwarf
Appearance
Kjetil Dankil is a compact hill dwarf with a square, careful body and the unsettling stillness of someone listening for a patient’s breathing. He moves with short, economical steps, always favoring his left side because his right knee aches in cold weather. His beard is dark brown at the roots and silver at the tips, combed into two blunt cords tied with red thread. His hands are broad, nicked, and permanently stained with traces of iodine, lampblack, and crushed feverroot. He smiles readily at strangers, but his smile vanishes the instant he begins assessing an injury. The unexpected contradiction is that his armor is polished to a mirror shine while his boots are permanently caked with mud and medical wax.
“Low, dry, and carefully paced. He pronounces names distinctly, clips the ends of urgent sentences, and rarely raises his volume.”

Distinguishing Features
His right knee clicks audibly when he rises from a crouch, yet he never acknowledges it.
He carries a bronze bowl-shaped holy symbol rather than a weapon-shaped emblem.
He smells faintly of pine resin, iron, and bitter medicinal herbs.
His beard cords are tied with red thread taken from old infirmary linens.
He can identify most common poisons by smell but is embarrassingly bad at recognizing expensive wine.
Voice
“A low baritone with a dry rasp, like a file drawn across soft metal. He breathes through his nose when thinking and makes a faint clicking sound with his tongue when someone gives an incomplete answer.”
Clothing
A quilted brown undertunic beneath chain mail, a dark green half-cloak fastened with a plain bronze clasp, reinforced trousers, mud-dark boots, and a red wool sash containing bandages and splints. His holy symbol is a small bronze bowl held in two hands.
Body Language
He stands slightly angled rather than squarely facing people, as if leaving room to reach a fallen companion. His left thumb repeatedly rubs the edge of his holy symbol when worried. In combat he becomes unnervingly still, then moves in abrupt, precise bursts. When frightened, his breathing becomes audible through his nose and he starts speaking in shorter sentences.
