Kira Wind-Anchor
Artificer (Battle Smith) 6 / Rogue 2
Kira Wind-Anchor
Species
Aerost
Appearance
Kira is a sharp-eyed young Aerost woman with a light-boned posture that makes her seem half a heartbeat away from lifting into the air. Her slate-grey head feathers lie sleek and orderly, but the tips are permanently frayed by hot metal dust. Her wind-touched grey eyes have thin amber rings around the pupils, and they track bolts, pulleys, and stress lines before they track faces. She moves with a quick, spring-loaded precision, placing each magnetic boot as though the floor might betray her. Her hands are narrow, callused, and darkened beneath the nails by graphite that never fully washes out. The unexpected contradiction is her smile, broad and almost girlish, appearing at the worst possible moments, especially when a dangerous machine begins to fail in an interesting way.
“Kira speaks rapidly in clipped, exact phrases, often replacing emotional words with engineering terms. Her voice becomes soft and almost musical when discussing machines, but turns flat and razor-polite around officials.”

Distinguishing Features
A pale scar runs from the left corner of her beak-mouth to the base of her jaw, caused by a snapped tension wire.
Her amber-ringed grey eyes reflect tiny geometric highlights when she examines enchanted machinery.
Three slate feathers near her right temple are bound with copper wire instead of growing naturally.
Her left glove bears a line of hand-stitched tally marks recording every worker she has personally rescued.
Caliper's faceplate is stamped with the same triangular maker's mark found on the falsified maintenance plates.
Voice
“A brisk contralto with a dry rasp from years of shouting over wind, engines, and steel. When she is genuinely frightened, her voice becomes unnervingly gentle.”
Clothing
Reinforced work-canvas coveralls stained with graphite and machine grease, layered over a fitted wool undershirt. She wears heavy magnetic boots for high-altitude traction, a brass-buckled utility belt, fingerless insulated gloves, and heavy protective goggles pushed onto her forehead. Her left sleeve is sewn with a faded strip of her mother's old inspection sash.
Body Language
Kira leans toward sources of vibration, taps rhythms against her thigh, and keeps one boot angled toward the nearest stable support. Around politicians, her shoulders lock and her fingers count invisible measurements. When she trusts someone, she stands close enough for her shoulder feathers to brush theirs.
