Ignis Kaelen
Paladin, Oath of the Crucible
Ignis Kaelen
Species
True Dragon, Ancient Red Dragon
Appearance
Ignis Kaelen is a titanic ancient red dragon whose presence makes rooms feel undersized. His scales are deep crimson beneath a crust of soot, each plate dull at the edges and glowing faintly in the seams like banked coals. Molten horns sweep backward from his skull, shedding threads of orange light when his temper rises. His wings move with the slow authority of furnace doors opening, stirring hot air, grit, and the bitter smell of iron. In court, he often assumes the shape of an immense draconic noble, still too large for any ordinary chair, wrapped in ceremonial armor and black-red robes. The unexpected softness is in his hands, which he uses with extraordinary care around workers, children, and delicate tools. Within a minute of meeting him, most people notice that he continually checks the temperature of nearby stone with one claw, as though listening through heat.
“His voice is a measured subterranean rumble, each syllable carrying the weight of stone doors and distant furnaces. He rarely raises it.”

Distinguishing Features
Molten horns that brighten or dim with his emotional state.
Soot-blackened scale edges and narrow seams of emberlight along his neck and forelimbs.
A habit of pressing one claw to stone to feel heat and vibration.
Ceremonial armor made from the first arcane-steel batch forged in Kaelen’s Pyre-Hold.
An unexpectedly gentle precision when handling tools, scrolls, or frightened living creatures.
Voice
“A furnace-deep baritone with a dry metallic resonance, like iron dragged across basalt”
Clothing
When draconic, he wears blackened ceremonial plate fitted across his chest and shoulders, linked by heavy brass chains to a mantle of heatproof crimson cloth. In humanoid form, he wears a severe high-collared coat of scaled armor, ash-gray gloves, and a broad iron torque engraved with the names of the dead.
Body Language
Ignis occupies space without apology, lowering his head only when choosing to listen. His claws tap once against stone before every judgment. When he considers mercy, one molten horn dims; when he considers violence, both brighten.
