Muzír Quettle
Artificer
Muzír Quettle
Species
Halfling
Appearance
A compact halfling with a round, expressive face and a spring-loaded way of moving, as if every joint contains a hidden mechanism. His clothes are permanently soot-stained at the cuffs, knees, and collar, yet every brass buckle is polished to a warm shine. Goggles rest on his forehead, their lenses scratched with tiny starbursts and one patched with green glass. His mischievous smile shows a chipped front tooth, while his left eyebrow is threaded with a fine copper wire that twitches whenever he lies. He smells faintly of hot metal, cardamom, and singed wool. Despite his grubby work clothes, his hands are exceptionally clean and his fingernails are painted with neat black dots for counting tool sizes. He leaves people with the impression of a cheerful child who has somehow become responsible for explosives.
“Fast, musical, and breathless, with abrupt changes in volume. He slips into sing-song rhyme when giving instructions, stretches the final word of a joke, and whispers the punchline as if sharing state secrets.”

Distinguishing Features
A copper wire threaded through his left eyebrow twitches when he lies.
One front tooth is chipped from a failed spring-loaded lunchbox.
His goggles have mismatched lenses, one amber and one green.
He carries a brass compass engraved with his sister's initials.
His fingertips are covered in precise black dots used to identify tool sizes by touch.
Voice
“A quick, warm tenor with a lightly rasping edge, like a kettle beginning to whistle. His voice becomes unexpectedly gentle when speaking to frightened recruits or broken machines.”
Clothing
A patched rust-red waistcoat over a cream shirt, soot-dark trousers tucked into soft leather boots, a tool belt crowded with brass instruments, fingerless gloves, a blue scarf marked with Guild tally symbols, and a heavy canvas satchel reinforced with copper plates.
Body Language
He talks with both hands, elbows, goggles, and whatever tool happens to be nearby. He leans close when delivering a clue, rocks on his heels when pleased, and freezes completely when embarrassed. His smile is broad and easy, but his fingers repeatedly check the same pocket whenever he feels unsafe.
