His wide aquamarine eyes are always slightly overbright, as if he has just remembered an additional regulation. Damp dark hair is combed flat and carefully parted, though loose strands creep over his brow whenever he becomes nervous. He moves with quick, clipped steps that suddenly become gliding and almost boneless when he turns, as if his body briefly forgets it is supposed to be solid. His hands are slender and precise, with translucent webbing between the fingers and faint ripples moving beneath the skin when he is upset. Despite his severe archivist's clothing and grim workplace, Youssef has an unexpectedly delicate appearance, more like a worried schoolteacher than a keeper of criminal evidence. He leaves people with the impression of a man trying to apologize to the entire building before it collapses.
