The Silent Witness of the Black Hold
Unknown / Aberration-Bound Entity
The Silent Witness of the Black Hold
Species
Tidekin
Appearance
A slender, impossibly graceful Tidekin hangs in perpetual shimmering suspension inside a reinforced glass-and-adamantine containment cell. Its translucent pearlescent skin resembles wet mother-of-pearl stretched over a delicate, almost weightless frame. Fine bioluminescent veins pulse beneath the skin in slow rhythms that match the tides outside the Exchange. Long semi-translucent webbing fans from its fingers, elbows, spine, and ankles, drifting as if underwater even when the cell is drained. Its silver eyes are solid luminous pools without pupils, yet anyone who approaches feels unmistakably observed. Every movement is economical and balletic, with the body turning in perfect arcs rather than walking or swimming. The contradictory impression is that of something impossibly fragile possessing the presence of a fortress. Its beauty invites pity, while its stillness suggests that the cell may be the thing being contained rather than the prisoner.
“The Witness never speaks with a conventional voice. It communicates through sharp metallic taps, finger gestures, patterns traced in condensation, and low-frequency clicks that vibrate in the bones.”

Distinguishing Features
Solid silver eyes with no pupils or visible irises
Bioluminescent veins that pulse in synchrony with local tides
Semi-translucent webbing extending from the fingers, spine, elbows, and ankles
A fused black ceramic collar marked with a symbol absent from all known surface languages
A small fracture in the left palm that leaks harmless motes of blue light when the Witness remembers the Sundering
Voice
“A voiceless pressure in the bones, accompanied by distant bell tones and the faint impression of someone speaking underwater through a closed door.”
Clothing
A deteriorated mantle of black kelp-fiber and silver filament clings to its hips and shoulders. The fabric is crusted with salt, stitched with geometric pre-Sundering symbols, and perpetually damp despite the dry cell. A broken collar of dark ceramic rests around its neck, fused to the skin by old relic-light.
Body Language
The Witness moves with slow, deliberate grace, folding its webbed hands over its sternum when listening. It angles its head toward vibrations rather than voices. Its body becomes perfectly rigid when lying, while its fingers tremble almost imperceptibly when telling the truth. When it recognizes someone from a vision, it presses one palm flat to the glass and allows its webbing to spread like a pale star.
