Jaimy Nimaquira
Commoner
Jaimy Nimaquira
Species
Dwarf
Appearance
Jaimy is a compact young dwarf with a round, serious face and a way of standing that makes her seem planted into the street. Her hands are broad and heavily callused for a child, with black mineral dust settled permanently into the creases of her palms. She smells faintly of wet slate, candle grease, and sweet oatcakes, though she insists the oatcake smell comes from George and not her. Her eyes rarely settle on faces. Within a minute of meeting someone, she has usually inspected their boots, counted the buckles on their clothing, and glanced at the nearest wall for cracks. She moves with a quiet, deliberate heaviness, yet can suddenly spring over a railing with startling grace. The unexpected contradiction is that her intimidating strength and stone-still posture vanish when she is frightened, leaving her curled behind the nearest adult like a much smaller child.
“Low and carefully measured, with a slight rasp from years of dust and cold air. She speaks quickly when explaining stone, slowly when discussing her parents, and almost whispers when asking for comfort.”

Distinguishing Features
Broad, callused hands that look too strong for a ten-year-old
A faded red scarf with a carefully repaired tear near one end
Mineral dust permanently darkening the lines of her palms
A habit of looking at walls and ceilings before looking at faces
A tiny brass button sewn inside her collar, which she taps twice before entering unfamiliar places
Voice
“A gravelly alto with clipped consonants and a habit of dropping her voice whenever she says something important”
Clothing
A patched brown wool tunic, charcoal trousers tucked into oversized work boots, a faded red scarf once belonging to her mother, and a leather tool belt with more pockets than tools. One sleeve is held together by copper wire.
Body Language
She plants both feet wide when making an important statement, rubs mineral dust between her fingers when thinking, and tilts her head toward walls when listening. When embarrassed, she hides her mouth behind one sleeve. When angry, she becomes unnaturally still.
