Appearance
Theron Vance is a broad, weathered man with the dense stillness of a load-bearing pillar. His skin is ruddy olive, roughened by furnace heat and powdered permanently with gray mineral dust along the knuckles. A thin white scar runs from his left temple to the hinge of his jaw, while his right index finger is missing its final joint, crushed in a hoist accident during his first winter below Anvil Gate. He moves slowly until a decision is made, then crosses a room with startling economy, each step placed as if testing a bridge. His beard is carefully trimmed, but one side grows in silver and the other remains iron-black, an unexpected softness against his severe face. He leaves behind the impressions of hot stone, lamp oil, and a man who has already measured every exit.
“Low, deliberate, and exact. Theron pauses before important nouns, as though placing them into a ledger.”

Distinguishing Features
A crushed final joint on the right index finger.
A white scar running from the left temple to the jaw.
One side of his beard is silver while the other remains black.
Three heavy hematite rings, each engraved with a different Consortium seal.
A faint smell of lamp oil and hot stone clings to him even after bathing.
Voice
“A resonant baritone with a faint rasp, like gravel dragged across iron. He speaks softly enough that listeners lean toward him, then makes each final word land with the weight of a hammer.”
Clothing
A charcoal wool coat reinforced at the shoulders with dark leather, a high-collared gray shirt, iron-gray trousers, and mud-stained work boots polished only at the toes. Three hematite signet rings mark different branches of Consortium authority. Beneath the coat he wears a concealed chain shirt and a leather harness carrying tools, chalk, and sealed contracts.
Body Language
Theron keeps both hands visible during negotiations, his damaged finger resting against the opposite thumb. When listening, he lowers his chin and becomes almost motionless. When angered, he adjusts one of his hematite rings by a fraction of a turn. He never points at people, only at documents, doors, and structural flaws.
