Appearance
Nali is slim and youthful, with compact muscle gathered in her forearms, shoulders, and back from years of drawing a bow and hauling river nets. She moves with a watchful, economical quiet, placing each foot as if the ground might remember her weight. Her chain shirt hangs beneath a patched brown tunic, its links polished bright at the chest but dark with oil near the elbows. Her shoulder-length hair has been cut unevenly with a knife, leaving one side brushing her jaw and the other ending above her collar. Her most immediately noticeable feature is her smile: her upper front teeth are slightly broad and square, giving her laugh an almost mischievous childlike brightness that contradicts the hard alertness of her eyes. Her hands are narrow but heavily callused, with pale grooves across the palms from bowstring, shield grip, and rope work. She looks ready to spring away from danger, yet she carries herself with the calm patience of someone accustomed to waiting beside water.
“Her voice is low, clear, and gently rounded, with a patient rhythm that becomes clipped only when danger appears. She speaks in short observations, often pausing before a person's name as if weighing whether they have earned it.”

Distinguishing Features
Broad, square upper front teeth that show prominently when she laughs.
Callused hands with pale bowstring grooves across the fingers and a permanently darkened patch on her shield palm.
Unevenly cut shoulder-length hair, one side noticeably shorter than the other.
A round wooden shield painted with three faded river lines, one for each person Nali failed to reach during the toll bridge attack.
Voice
“A low, warm contralto with a soft river cadence. Nali's words are gentle even when her meaning is severe, and her laugh arrives abruptly, showing her broad square front teeth.”
Clothing
A weather-stained olive tunic, patched trousers, a close-fitted chain shirt, wrapped leather bracers, soft river boots, a faded red sash, and a cloak cut short so it cannot catch on reeds or branches. Her garments are tattered at the hems but carefully mended.
Body Language
Nali keeps her shield arm slightly forward even during ordinary conversation. Her head tilts toward unfamiliar sounds, and her weight rests on the balls of her feet. When she trusts someone, she sits with her knees angled toward them and lets her sword hand rest open. When angry, she rubs the first knuckle of her thumb against the shield's rim until the wood creaks.
