Appearance
Kethra is a slim, young woman with wiry strength, strong shoulders, and forearms corded by years of hauling packs, splitting kindling, and holding frightened travelers steady on icy paths. Her sun-browned olive skin is roughened at the knuckles and faintly reddened across the cheeks by mountain wind. An uneven, knife-cut chestnut bob frames her face, one side brushing her jaw while the other curls against her collar. She stands in a three-quarter turn with her weight slightly forward and her shield presented before her, as if every conversation might become a rescue. Her hands are unusually expressive: the left thumb constantly tests the shield strap, while the right fingers measure distance against the sword grip. The unexpected softness is in her eyes, warm hazel flecked with amber, and in the tiny faded white flowers painted beneath the grime on her shield. She looks ready to fight, yet leaves people with the impression that she would notice if they had forgotten their gloves.
“Low, brisk, and lightly rasped by cold air. Kethra speaks in practical images, rarely wastes a word, and becomes unexpectedly poetic when describing weather, roads, or the smell of bread from a safe settlement.”

Distinguishing Features
A battered round wooden shield reinforced with iron and painted with tiny faded white flowers beneath grime and scratches.
Her waiting stance is unusually forward-leaning, with her weight poised on the balls of her feet.
Her hands are visibly work-worn, with thickened palms, split knuckles, and pale bands where old shield straps have rubbed the skin.
A carved wooden emblem at her throat depicts a lantern enclosed by two mountain peaks.
She has a habit of looking at people's boots before looking at their faces.
Voice
“A low contralto with a dry mountain rasp, usually calm and clipped. When angry, she becomes quieter rather than louder. When speaking to children, she over-enunciates every word as though teaching them a useful knot.”
Clothing
A dented chain shirt hangs over a faded russet tunic. She wears patched brown trousers, mud-dark boots with extra stitching around the ankles, fingerless wool gloves, and a short gray cloak repaired with mismatched thread. A carved wooden emblem rests at her neck, polished smooth from years of touching it.
Body Language
Kethra keeps her shoulders square and her shield hand slightly raised. While waiting, she places most of her weight on the balls of her feet rather than her heels, as though expecting the floor to tilt. She rarely folds her arms. Instead, she rests one hand over the opposite wrist, checking the pulse there when anxious. Her expression softens before her voice does.
