Kharra is a slim, energetic young woman with light olive skin, rounded cheeks, a small chin, and enormous glossy brown eyes that look gentle until they settle on a threat. Her arms are muscled from years of hauling ore, drawing a bow, and climbing scree slopes. Wind has reddened her nose and knuckles, while rust-red mineral dust has worked permanently into her fingertips and palm creases. Her severe braided crown is dark chestnut, but rebellious curls escape around both ears and tremble whenever she is angry. She moves with a hunting cat's compact readiness, never quite standing still, yet her face has an unexpectedly soft, almost scholarly calm. The contradiction is most obvious in her hands: blunt, thickened working hands that handle a sword with delicate precision.
