Appearance
Briska is a compact, athletic young woman with light olive skin, rounded cheeks, a small chin, and enormous glossy deep-brown eyes that make her look gentler than she is. Her forearms are muscled from years of hauling ropes, drawing bows, and climbing quarry faces. Wind reddens her nose and knuckles, while rust-red mineral dust has worked permanently into the creases of her fingertips and palms. Dark chestnut hair is pulled into a severe braided crown, though rebellious curls escape around both ears and twitch whenever she is irritated. She moves with the low, poised balance of a hunting cat, favoring her left side when standing still and shifting her weight in tiny, nearly invisible corrections. The unexpected contradiction is that her hands look like a laborer's, but she handles delicate objects with the precision of a jeweler. Within a minute of meeting her, most people notice the blue wool scarf wound twice around her neck, its lower edge worn nearly smooth where she repeatedly grips it while thinking.
“Low, brisk, and practical, with clipped mountain vowels. She rarely wastes words, but her voice softens noticeably around children, frightened travelers, and animals.”

Distinguishing Features
Enormous deep-brown eyes that combine warmth with constant alertness.
Rust-red mineral stains embedded in her fingertips and palm creases.
A blue wool scarf with a smooth, repeatedly gripped lower edge.
A copper compass dented at one corner, always worn beside her sword belt.
A low, balanced gait that favors her left side and makes her seem ready to spring sideways.
Voice
“A low, wind-worn contralto that carries well across roads and ravines.”
Clothing
A well-maintained chain shirt lies beneath a forest-green half-cloak. She wears charcoal trousers tucked into weathered brown boots, a wine-red sash crowded with pouches and cord, and a blue wool scarf whose lower edge is polished smooth from constant handling. A small copper compass hangs beside her sword belt, dented at one corner and darkened by years of sweat.
Body Language
Briska keeps her torso angled toward open space and rarely plants both feet squarely. Her left hand hovers near her sword belt while her right hand remains loose and open. When listening carefully, she lowers her chin and becomes almost unnervingly still, with only the escaped curls around her ears giving away her agitation.
