Origin

Before time had roads or names, Orvazun stepped into the blankness and asked where it led. His question became the first path, and from the footprints of his search arose five children: Ndambo from the promise to return, Zuberi from the joy of movement, Iokaste from the need to understand, Kresk from the fear of what might be found, and Mbeki of the Nine Knots from the temptation to turn every journey into a game.

Cosmology

Reality is called the Great Quest, a living expedition begun when Orvazun took the first step into the unmade dark. Its five regions are not places but principles: the Open Road of Zuberi, the Hearthbound Promise of Ndambo, the Starred Question of Iokaste, the Hidden Underway of Kresk, and the Final Gate of Orvazun. Worlds overlap wherever mortals pursue a goal, confront uncertainty, or choose whether to turn back. The gods are not outside creation; they are its oldest travelers and can be encountered in person.

Structure

The religion has no supreme earthly hierarchy. Its central institutions are Wayhouses, each governed by a six-seat Lantern Circle representing the six deities. Most circles include a road-priest of Orvazun, a hearth-keeper of Ndambo, a wayfinder of Zuberi, a questioner of Iokaste, a warden of Kresk, and a challenger of Mbeki of the Nine Knots. Communities may favor one deity, but orthodox teaching insists that a complete quest requires all six perspectives. Pilgrims carry stamped route-books, and senior clergy earn authority by completing public quests rather than inheriting office.

Mortal Relations

The pantheon is intensely involved in mortal life. Its gods appear as masked travelers, helpful strangers, impossible clues, hostile guardians, prophetic dreams, and patrons of rival adventuring societies. Clerics and devotees are expected to pursue active callings rather than remain isolated in temples. Every major settlement maintains at least one Wayhouse: part shrine, part inn, part archive, where travelers may seek shelter, submit discoveries, report dangers, or undertake a divine puzzle.

Afterlife

The Sixfold Elsewhere is a vast unfinished realm shaped by the choices of the dead. Each soul receives a personal mystery from Orvazun, and its path is guided by the five divine children: some cross the Doorless Mile with Ndambo, solve impossible riddles beneath Iokaste's stars, brave the shifting roads of Zuberi, or descend into the concealed chambers guarded by Kresk. No judgment is final; the dead may return as guides, ancestors, quest-spirits, or—if they abandon every question—become silent landmarks in another soul's journey.
