Vadicus of the Above
Origin
Before recorded history, The All Earth was divided among warring peoples who prayed to local spirits, ancestors, and battlefield powers. Morgus gathered twelve divine forces beneath a single celestial order, naming them the Vadicus of the Above. His reign ended in a war so vast that seasons broke, oceans changed course, and the dead filled the roads. The gods’ peak strength came during this conflict, when mortal armies served as their hands. Their final struggle shattered the old divine compact and drove the pantheon beyond the visible heavens.
Cosmology
The faithful teach that The All Earth rests beneath the Above, a celestial battlefield where the Vadicus once ruled from twelve opposing thrones. Morgus occupies the central Crown Seat, while the other gods circle it along the Turning Host, a heavenly procession marked by seasons, tides, dreams, death, and war. The world below is believed to be the scar left by their conflict. Every storm, harvest, battlefield, eclipse, and forgotten road is a surviving wound in the old divine architecture.
Structure
The Vadicus of the Above are arranged as a contested celestial court rather than a harmonious family. Morgus holds the Crown Seat as nominal head, with Maedra the weaver beside him as the Keeper of Bonds. Their sons, Kibanular and Azzmut, represent opposing forms of inheritance, change and preservation. Lotus Queen serves as the court’s coercive hand, while Holdenicus guards its forgotten borders. Corvexus and Kael’Zoroth, the Hollow King form the destructive war-host. Iskhar, the infinite and Ylthune the dreamer protect renewal and escape. Neruvex, the tidelord governs the world’s mutable boundaries, and Valtheriel stands outside all factions as keeper of the dead. Their worshippers organize into rival temples, military orders, mystery cults, seasonal communities, and royal priesthoods, with no single church controlling the whole religion.
Mortal Relations
The Vadicus of the Above are remembered as ancient gods whose wars shaped nations, bloodlines, climates, coastlines, burial customs, and ideas of legitimate rule. Their temples rarely agree on whether the gods truly vanished or merely withdrew beyond the sky. Mortal kingdoms invoke Morgus for law, Maedra the weaver for alliance, Azzmut for ancestral purity, and Valtheriel for the dead. Rebels turn to Kibanular and Ylthune the dreamer, while sailors bargain with Neruvex, the tidelord. Every faction fears the possibility that Kael’Zoroth, the Hollow King is not gone, only waiting beneath the next war.
Afterlife
Valtheriel, keeper of souls governs the Ashen Vestibule, where the dead arrive carrying the wounds, oaths, and unfinished hatreds of war. Morgus judges kings, while Valtheriel weighs every soul without favor. The faithful believe rebirth through Iskhar, the infinite is possible, but only after Valtheriel has severed the soul from its former allegiance. Those claimed by Kael’Zoroth, the Hollow King are said to dissolve into the Howling Dark.
